The Burro District, as it is known, is a stretch of land to the Northwest of present day downtown Austin, Texas. Early in Austin's history this region was farmland. Each harvest brought a steady stream of townspeople to the farms with their mules to bring back the season's fresh food. The sight of all the townspeople with their pack animals earned this area the name "The Burro District."

To this day The Burro District is a popular outpost of Austin featuring a mix of quaint shops and popular restaurants that stretch the length of Burnet Road. The area has maintained its charm with neighborhood houses and small establishments dating back to a simpler time. The creek that runs due West of The Burro District brings wildlife to the area reminding people that this was once the edge of civilization. Among the wildlife there are rumors of an albino coyote that feeds on the local produce and is the subject of many a lore.
